Donald Trump is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia and following him are wife Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka. While the POTUS is busy with all the arms deal and major bilateral summit, both girls have been with their share of conferences and diplomatic talks. On the other hand, the two women appear to be making news for all the wrong motives.
Ivanka Trump, who’s additionally a senior advisor to the US President, said on Sunday that the ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia has made “encouraging” improvement in empowering girls. “Saudi Arabia’s improvement, notably recently, is quite encouraging,” at the meeting the senior adviser said. “But there’s still plenty of work to be done and liberties and great opportunities to continue to fight for she included.
Saudi Arabia, which applies a strict form of Sunni Islam, imposes many restrictions on girls. It’s the sole state where women aren’t permitted to drive. Girls are anticipated to cover from head to toe when in public. Misogynistic punishments and their infamous male guardianship also have drawn flak from time-to-time.
But it wasn’t simply Ivanka Trump alone, the FLOTUS too made a similar remark while meeting women employees at a GE service centre. Posting a few graphics on her Twitter report the First Lady wrote, “Enjoyed speaking to the incredible women working hard ]Saudi service center. Great strides being made towards the empowerment of women.”
